Type of a scam Employment

In a nut shell-Job search via internet-Acticor Biotech made an offer to hire. After meeting via Skype instructions were to proceed with downloadable computer software purchased with a cashiers check they would send. I could keep $100 of the check but the remaining would be used for software. Something didn’t seem right when I received the cashiers check? No W-2 forms included like they said? The remitter was a Stoer Construction, inc. I emailed my contact Shirley about the affiliation and she asked why I was concerned? I said because of scammers and she said she has nothing to do with scammers. Very weird responses so I called the bank the check was drawn from and they said not their account number for cashiers checks -it was fraudulent! I immediately emailed Shirley and let her know about the fraudulent cashiers check and I have yet to receive a response.
