Type of a scam Debt Collections

This company says I owe them some money. I may or may not for since this time, I have had major surgery and three concussions and a few other issues. I have paid all my loan debts off to my knowledge. Accept I was going to pay this one off at first, I even gave them my debt card, and then I got to thinking and began calling consolidation people to see if they could help me to lower the cost they were asking per month. I was advised to closed the debt card which I did, and I asked them how I could send them some money such as money order, cashier check or pre-paid visa and they told me no. It had to be a green dot. That made me even more suspicious. I called the investigation here in Rock Springs Wyoming and was told I did the right the move and to tell them I had a change of mine and I wanted to be serve papers. It is like I never said that statement. I get all kinds of different emails from them but I honestly do not believe that they are who they say they are and they say they are an email collection only. Maybe you can clarify this for me and give me some advice in how to get rid of these people.
